See Cooling System or Radiator Flush for details on draining and flushing your cooling system. It is VERY important to do this procedure. Failure to do so will result in accelerated engine and radiator corrosion. If your current radiators are leaking, badly corroded, or non serviceable, you will need to install you new radiators after draining and BEFORE FLUSHING.

Removing Radiators

1. If fitting motorcycle radiators, you will need to remove the seat and then the plastic radiator shrouds to expose the radiators.

  • 3. At this stage for cars, you will need to remove the cooling fans and fan shrouds
    4. Remove the mounting bolts holding the radiator on the motorcycle frame or car chassis
    5. For motorcycles, you will need to take the rubber grommets out of the old radiator and inspect for damage/wear. If they are not suitable for reuse, replace with new genuine parts.
    6. While you have your cooling system apart, it is important to inspect all components for damage or wear. Perished hoses, rusted hose clamps or damaged mounting for example. Any of these damaged parts should be replaced by new parts.

    7. It is now time to fit the new radiators. ICE racing radiators carefully inspect and test our radiators before they leave our factory. However, it is good practice to inspect all parts before fitting them. Should you have any queries, please contact one of our technicians immediately via phone or email. Do not fit your new parts if you are unsure of a fault.
    8. Once your have completed your inspection and are satisfied, bolt on the new radiators and fit all hoses.
    9. If you are Racing or working your engine hard, it is recommended to fit an ICE Racing overflow tank at this stage. Follow the instructions provided with the kit.
    10. It is absolutely crucial to check your work and ensure none of the hoses are kinked/crimped or blocked in any way. Pay close attention to where your overflow pipe is running. It is very uncommon to have to modify anything but If the alloy overflow pipe on the radiator is touching anywhere, you need to trim the alloy pipe down to fix this problem. Simply use a hacksaw for this job and sand paper to clean up.
    11. Now, you need to refit all of your radiator shrouds and fans (where applicable) and ensure that all of the bolts and hose clamps are firmly tightened.
    12. Lastly, you need to refill your cooling system. Again, it is important to have the correct coolant for your application. DO NOT mix different coolants. It is also important that you have flushed your cooling system before you refill with fresh coolant. Failure to do so will result in engine damage. For flushing the cooling system, click here
